A heart-warming back story to this design project.

The owner was born & grew up in the home previously nestled on this Mt Maunganui property. The home had in later years been used as a family holiday home. Now married with adult children of their own, the opportunity presented the next family home for the next family generations memories to be formed and shared.  Heart Rimu painstakingly rescued from the dilapidated original home has been used extensively throughout the design.

The ‘Whiskey Den’ door has recycled the old laundry door, etched with the extended families children’s growth chart – a time capsule connecting old with new.

Contrasting black battens, vertical cedar and white brick define the two opposing roof structures which create internal interest are linked by a central spine corridor. Two covered outdoor areas offer an all-round year selection of relaxed areas integrated easily accessible form the interior living. LourveTec roofing, LED lighting & outdoor fireplace a standout feature.

Energy efficiencies include solar harvest panels providing a self-sufficiency of electrical supply with excess returned to the regional grid.
