We are an architecture and design practice based in Auckland, New Zealand. The focus of our work is well crafted architecture, interiors and product design.

Since 1940 our practice has enjoyed working with like-minded people and businesses, to enhance the spaces and places where we work, live and play.

What we are is a practice with considerable collective experience globally, and locally. Across the gamut of design, from architecture to product, and most things in between. Yes, you could say we have our fingers in lots of pies, and that’s just how the team likes it.

Boundaries get pushed, past experiences called upon, and strengths are tapped. Perhaps most importantly, that diversity of experience and knowledge helps to inform and challenge clients from a point of view they may not have expected.

Our collective experience has been further enhanced in 2016 with David Morgan and Wade Jennings joining Michael at the helm of CPRW FISHER.

Between our 19 staff we speak more than 10 languages and boast a diverse range of hobbies and pastimes, including motorsport, ice hockey, surfing, radio controlled cars, model building, the restoration of classic Mini’s and coaching rugby. CPRW FISHER is proud to support the following charities; Dementia Auckland, Auckland City Mission and Woman’s Refuge.

I started my career 39 years ago as a young technician in a large Australian firm where on Monday mornings my job was to clean the ammonia plan printer. Along the way I have enjoyed working in both boutique and large offices here in New Zealand, London and Hong Kong where the projects have gone from designing bespoke retail, hospitality and high end residential spaces, through to the planning and detailing of resorts in Thailand and Fiji. I have been called a “petrol head” by some of my friends for spending too much time chasing classic cars, and hanging out at race circuits here and overseas. When not on four wheels, I can be found perusing art gallery walls or enjoying carving up ski slopes…

Having spent 10 years working in Europe on large scale commercial projects for the likes of Cisco Systems in Amsterdam, Barclays World HQ, Canary Wharf, and an extension to the Kuwait National Assembly, it was time to return to New Zealand in 2006. One of my first projects back here saw me take on the role of design lead and project architect for the refurbishment of 21 Queen Street (now Zurich House). I have a real passion for motorsport and this manifests itself on Saturday nights when I race alongside some of the top Super Saloon drivers in NZ, one of whom happens to be my dad. My 2 young children love to hang out in pit lane, so the future of the Jennings motorsport dynasty looks very promising.

Working with a diverse range of clients, for some great companies, and along-side many truly talented colleagues, has helped to make the last 20+ years in the industry a fun filled ride. Projects worked on have been varied in both type and location, encompassing the UK, USA, Australia, the Middle East and of course, New Zealand. Having developed an interest in the multi-disciplinary nature of Experience Design (XD), I am currently completing a master’s degree, specialising in XD. In recent years, when not building skate ramps for my 2 sons, I’ve enjoyed coaching junior teams at Ponsonby Rugby Club.

Having had 2 stints, and a total of 11 years, living and working in London, I returned to New Zealand in 2013. I’ve been lucky enough to work with a huge variety of people – clients, consultants and colleagues – which has made my 20 years in Architectural practice enlightening and always entertaining. Both in the UK and in NZ I have had the opportunity to work on a range of fantastic projects from larger scale commercial buildings and a house for a premier league footballer, to retail and corporate fit outs and multi-unit residential developments. I love to travel, but in NZ you will find me doing DIY projects, sailing and occasionally dabbling in a new interest in fishing… all of which need to fit around playing as much tennis as possible.
